Tracey Emin
Tracey Emin one of Brittan's most public, personal provocative artists. her subject matter is all about her and her experiences. Her autobiographical style of work is all about exposing the kind of things about herself that most people would be too ashamed to reveal. but she has also been accused of exploiting the public voyeuristic nature to gain attention.
Everyone I Have Ever Slept With 1963–1995
The work was a tent with the appliquéd names of, literally, everyone she had ever slept with, but not necessarily in the sexual sense.
I think you could still describe this work as imersive, it was helpful for me thinking of ways i might display my final out come.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_light
I was originally wanted to make a piece that was to do with light playing with the themes of identity memory and the gaze. I looked at a lot of immersion art and the history of illusion art.
i came up with the idea of a thought tank. which was meant to be a dark space fulled of thoughts and memories. it was filled with provocative words and photos all in phosphors to react to UV to give it an immersive haunting quality. I played with the space inside a pitch black cylinder to give it this effect and so the individual could be embodied by the work in a 360 degree space.

Camera Obscura
when i found out how the camera obscure works, it made me think about light in a whole new way.
The camera obscura is an optical device that projects an image of its surroundings on a screen. It is used in drawing and for entertainment, and was one of the inventions that led to photography. The device consists of a box or room with a hole in one side. Light from an external scene passes through the hole and strikes a surface inside where it is reproduced, upside-down, but with color and perspective preserved.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CVRmcLbci8 here is a charming interview in which Sophie speaks of how she became an artist.
Sophie didn't start as an artist. she was studying only to please her father who would give her money for doing so. her teacher soon realized this and told her to go traveling. to keep her father happy her teacher put her name on other students results. After seven years of traveling she came back to pairs but when she got there she felt lost. she wanted to see what people do so she started following people and documented them.
Not only does Calle deal with the private lives of others she also explores her own in her work. She became so intrigued by following her unwitting subjects that she wanted to reverse the relationship and become the subject herself. She asked her mother to hire a private detective to follow her, without the detective knowing that she had arranged it, with the hopes that his investigation would provide photographic evidence of her existence.
I found her exhibition Take Care of Yourself (2007) intriguing in which she shows 107 interpretations of an email she got from her lover, telling her the affair was over. Each and every single one of the interpreters are women. They were given the instructions to examine the letter based on their profession. For example, a writer would point out the style of the letter, a lawyer would defend Calle’s lover, a psychoanalyst would talk about his psychology etc. Additionally, Sophie Calle asked several performing artists to act out the letter and bring it to life, which included Carla Bruni, who has been France’s second first lady under President Sarkozy’s time in office. Calle video documented them acting it out and photographed the other participants of the experiment as well so that each typed interpretation would be put together with its author’s photo in a style unique to Sophie Calle.

"open my glade"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYDh_D1G0hU
'Open my glade' was exhibited in Times square New York biggest advertising urban flux zone.
in the film Rist flattens her face against the screen as if she wants to break out and come down into the square. the flatten face looks very needy and more and more deformed as her makeup smears across the glass.
In a space that is usually rented for advertising industries and is therefore normally used in a very homogeneous way, were thousands of industries are 'trying to be different' to attract your attention, this work of Rist had to have no commercial intent behind it to 'be different' and provoke a distant reflection on society.

she has even directed a movie! check it out its looks so vibrant and fun.

Pipilotti Rist video
'I'm not the girl who misses much'
Rist out of focus frantically dances topless singing in a desperate warped speed up high pitch voice "I'm not the girl who misses much". The line is repeated again and again. This work of Rist is perhaps a depressing critical reflection of contemporary pop culture and also a comment of the portrayal of women in music videos.
